Week 15: The gambler

RUCKED: Hello, what do you do?
THE GAMBLER: I’m a professional gambler.

RUCKED: No way, really?
THE GAMBLER: Yup, been doing it a year.

RUCKED: How did you get into it?
THE GAMBLER: Just used to do it as a hobby, but was making enough money to quit my old job.

RUCKED: Which was?
THE GAMBLER: A pipe fitter.

RUCKED: So you do nothing but gamble?
THE GAMBLER: Yes, which bit don’t you understand?

RUCKED: Just impressed that’s all. What do you bet on?
THE GAMBLER: Tennis mostly.

RUCKED: How about rugby?
THE GAMBLER: Yeah, a bit.

RUCKED: What on?
THE GAMBLER: The handicap betting, bookies give teams head starts so you can bet on both. Don’t ever bet on away teams because home advantage is too big in rugby.

RUCKED: So what about the Six Nations?
THE GAMBLER: Haven’t seen the handicaps, but wouldn’t touch Wales v Italy, even with handicap.

RUCKED: So who do you reckon is going to win?
THE GAMBLER: Wales by ten.

RUCKED: England at France?
THE GAMBLER: That’s a toughie, England with the handicap.

RUCKED: Does that mean you think England will win?
THE GAMBLER: No, but very tight. I’ve not been blown away like everyone else by this French team, I like the way they’ve been playing. I was listening to some London mug pundit on the telly today and he was saying France by 15 or 20 which will be amazing if it happens. People are over-reacting about English side too, the Italian were good and first-half against Wales – I’ve not seen England play like that for ages. You only need a good start against Paris…

RUCKED: The Scots against Ireland?
THE GAMBLER: Murrayfield?

RUCKED: Dublin.
THE GAMBLER: The Irish, you’ve got to say. I can’t remember the last time the Scots beat them.

RUCKED: An expert pundit, who’d have thought it. So, one bet for the weekend?
THE GAMBLER: That’s tough, I'd had to have look through handicaps, but probably England to beat it.
